Manager of DBA (m/f/d)

We are seeking a skilled and experienced individual to join SEFE as the Head of DBA. In this role, you will lead and manage the DBA Team, serving as the primary point of contact for all DBA-related issues, incidents, and inquiries within the organisation.

What you will do:

As the Head of DBA, you will take charge of the DBA Team, ensuring efficient communication, problem resolution, and collaboration among team members. You will serve as the first point of contact for all DBA-related matters.

You will develop proposals for optimising DBA systems, focusing on performance, capacity usage, redundancy, resilience, and sustainability. You’ll analyse existing systems and propose enhancements to improve overall efficiency.

Key to this role is collaboration with business units to analyse and develop new IT solutions within the DBA landscape, ensuring alignment with the strategic plan of the organisation's IT landscape and addressing current and future business requirements.

You’ll manage the life cycle of DBA systems, including financial planning and budgeting, monitoring end-of-life scenarios, evaluating new versions, optimising costs, and controlling license usage to enhance system resiliency and efficiency. You’ll also be responsible for update database infrastructure elements according to established procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.

You’ll generate performance reports for DBA services based on relevant metrics and SLAs, providing insights into system performance and adherence to service level agreements. You’ll diagnose and resolve complex malfunctions, identifying underlying causes and implementing solutions to minimize downtime and mitigate risks.

You’ll maintain and update operational documentation, focusing on diagnostics and reducing processing time for system incidents. Collaborating independently with third parties, such as providers and vendors, you’ll ensure quality service provision.

What you will bring:

  • A solid understanding of IT infrastructures, concepts and solutions and experience in troubleshooting complex database issues
  • Undergraduate bachelor’s degree in a Computer Science or related discipline
  • Leadership experience and skills
  • Certifications in Microsoft (databases), Oracle preferred
  • Experience with the following technologies:
  • MS SQL Server 2014 and higher (including SSAS, SSIS, and SSRS),
  • MS SQL, Oracle, and MongoDB Performance monitoring and turning (SQL Server Profiler, Extended Events, Oracle OEM, MongoDB Operations Manager, TOAD)
  • Oracle database
  • MongoDB database
  • Monitoring solutions like CentryOne, Microsoft SCOM and Azure Monitoring
  • Experience designing, implementing and operating tooling to support the automation of database operations and reporting.
  • Autonomously driving and coordinating multi-team, database-based projects with your experience in Trading companies
  • Linux skills, Windows Server skills are needed
  • Experience with scripting and automating of operation tasks
  • Experience in software development teams cooperation is preferable
  • ITIL practice and Agile/SCRUM methodology are needed
