— Russian-German MusicAcademy with Valery Gergiev

The Russian-German MusicAcademy brings together highly talented students of music from leading music schools in Russia and Germany. The project was established under the patronage of star conductor Valery Gergiev and combines support for exceptional young musicians with the promotion of mutual understanding between Russians and Germans – a long-time goal of GAZPROM Germania’s sponsorship activities.

In 2015, GAZPROM Germania presented two orchestral concerts by the Russian-German MusicAcademy under the direction of Valery Gergiev to commemorate the end of the Second World War 70 years on. The two concerts – the first at the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg and the second at the Konzerthaus on Gendarmenmarkt in Berlin – were the orchestra’s debut efforts, and it performed them with bravura.

GAZPROM Germania is again supporting the youth orchestra for its performances to be given in 2017 as part of the Year of German-Russian Youth Exchange 2016-2017 declared by the governments of the two countries. The Russian-German MusicAcademy’s orchestra is to appear at the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg on 24 June, again under the direction of Valery Gergiev. And on 27 June, it will again take to the stage at Konzerthaus Berlin to perform works by Rihm, Beethoven, and Tchaikovsky.
