— From GAZPROM to you

A pillar of secure energy supply

Natural gas is not always consumed straight away. Demand fluctuates significantly depending on the time of day and season.

GAZPROM Germania’s state-of-the-art infrastructure includes storage facilities – underground caverns that are used for storing natural gas and play a vital role in ensuring the security of Germany’s energy supply and that of its European neighbours. Storage facilities are used to smooth out peaks and troughs in consumption – day and night, all year round. They ensure that supply meets demand at all times.

Natural gas is extracted from the ground – and we put it back in to the ground to store it, into natural gas storage caverns at former natural gas deposits at depths of up to 3,000 metres.
