Getting Ahead with Energy: Education Initiatives

Our commitment to the field of education manifests itself in a variety of activities.

Since 2002, we have been supporting two Berlin secondary schools, the Thüringen-Oberschule and the Johann-Gottfried-Herder-Gymnasium, by assisting them in the purchase of teaching aids and financing class excursions. The focus of these efforts is Russian language acquisition.

We also sponsor Berlin’s Umka kindergarten, which prepares children for school in two languages; the bilingual primary school Europagrundschule Lew Tolstoi in Berlin; and the Hamburg secondary school Gymnasium Heidberg, which carries out German-Russia theatre projects.

In June 2005, our project for Boarding School No. 13 in Saint Petersburg, Russia started. This project saw structural alterations made to the classrooms and recreation rooms, resulting in marked improvements to the living and learning conditions of the pupils. The refurbishment of the school building was supported by us and was completed in 2008.

Since 2007, we have been supporting the master programme in international energy economics and business administration, a joint project of the University of Leipzig and the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO University). We sponsor two scholarships, provide internships, and supervise master theses.
