GAZPROM Germania sponsors the Russian national ski jumping team

It is the declared goal of the Russian Ski Association to return the Russian ski jumpers to the top, and to keep them there. Heading their list of priorities is the building and expanding of their sporting infrastructure. For this purpose, the Skiing Association has constructed over 20 new ski-jumping centres. Once completed, the new ski jumps currently under construction in St. Petersburg, Khanty-Mansiysk, and Moscow are to serve both local athletes and also ambitious young talent, providing optimum training facilities to best help them attain their lofty goals. Moreover, the top German trainer Wolfgang Steiert has agreed to take charge of the Russian ski jumpers.

“We congratulate Wolfgang Steiert on his appointment. Connecting Russian resources with German know-how is something that the Russian national ski-jumping team and GAZPROM Germania have in common. Supporting the Russian national ski-jumping team is a matter of special significance to us, and a successful example of German-Russian cooperation”, says Dr. Claus Bergschneider, a member of the management board at GAZPROM Germania.

The cooperation between the Russian ski jumpers and the German GAZPROM subsidiary is envisioned to be long-term. “We are pleased to have found a reliable partner in GAZPROM Germania. Our common goal is the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi 2014”, says Wolfgang Steiert of the team’s relationship with the sponsor.
