Sharing in Successes

The sports sponsorship of GAZPROM Germania is oriented towards developing relationships based on equal partnership with the clubs, teams, and sportspeople we sponsor, and to sharing our enthusiasm for sport.

Since 2007, football has been at the centre of GAZPROM Germania’s sports sponsorship – as manifested by our support of FC Schalke 04, one of the top-ranking football clubs in the German Bundesliga national league. FC Schalke 04 is a club whose image, history, and ambitions are well matched to our own. Schalke 04 has a long tradition and is at home in the heart of the Ruhr area, at the centre of the energy industry.

In close cooperation with FC Schalke 04, GAZPROM Germania has set a special example by holding three benefit games to date under the slogan "Step on the Gas Against Violence". The aim of this campaign is to demonstrate that violence has no place either inside or outside stadiums.

GAZPROM Germania and FC Schalke 04 also initiated Move Against Violence 2009, a creativity contest into which youth football clubs can enter their anti-aggression and antidiscrimination projects. 

With the “Stairway to Sochi” campaign, GAZPROM Germania is accompanying the Russian national ski jumping team and the top-ranking ski jumper Dmitry Vassilev on their way to the Olympic Winter Games in their home country in 2014. As a German company with Russian roots, it is a matter of special importance for us to support this young, gifted team.

GAZPROM Germania was also title sponsor of German figure skater Katarina Witt’s farewell tour through Germany in February and March 2008. International figure skating stars such as eight-time British champion Steven Cousins and Olympic champion Brian Boitano also attended.
