Following the world-renowned Mariinsky Theatre’s hugely successful 2008 guest performance at Deutsche Oper Berlin, GAZPROM Germania has presented a 2010 concert by Mariinsky Theatre in cooperation with its partner of many years, Wintershall Holding GmbH.
The 2010 performance saw the audience treated to a unique German-Russian production under the direction of Russian star conductor Valery Gergiev at the Berliner Philharmonie. The Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra offered their interpretation of Peter Tchaikovsky’s Francesca da Rimini and the third act of Richard Wagner’s Parsifal together with the internationally acclaimed Berliner Rundfunkchor choir. Performances by soloists Matti Salminen, Yevgeny Nikitin, Sergei Semishkur and Kristina Kapustinskaya served as additional musical highlights.
GAZPROM Germania is supporting the Russian ensemble and working closely with German artists in the interest of promoting German-Russian cultural exchange and strengthen German-Russian friendship.
