Natural gas is found in almost every country in the world, but the largest deposits are concentrated in specific regions.
Natural gas deposits exist mainly in Russia, the Middle East around the Persian Gulf, North America including the United States, the Far East, in particular China, and in the Africa nations of Algeria and Nigeria.
Natural gas is also found in Europe, particularly in the North Sea and in the countries surrounding it. The largest remaining European natural gas reserves are located in Norway and the Netherlands. Natural gas production in Germany contributes to one fifth to the country’s supply security.
