3rd Quarter of 2009

GAZPROM Germania successfully increases its natural gas trading activities, increasing natural gas sales more than a third in the first three quarters of 2009

In the first three quarters of 2009, the GAZPROM Germania group recorded consolidated revenue of EUR 13.9 billion, around EUR 4.6 billion above the figure for the same period the previous year. In particular, this growth is attributable to above-average revenues from the sale of Central Asian natural gas and from the trading activities of British subsidiary Gazprom Marketing & Trading Ltd. Revenues fell slightly in Western and Southern Europe.

The consolidated result after taxes achieved by the GAZPROM Germania group as of 30 September 2009 totalled EUR 394.4 million, which represents an increase of EUR 123.2 million compared to the same period the previous year.

In the third quarter of 2009, the GAZPROM Germania group’s consolidated natural gas sales totalled 210.7 TWh, exceeding the result for the third quarter of 2008 by approx. 63.7 TWh. Natural gas sales have increased constantly in Italy and the Czech Republic, as have liquefied natural gas (LNG) sales. For the nine months to 30 September 2009, overall consolidated gas sales for the GAZPROM Germania group were up around 159.9 TWh to 597.5 TWh, around a third higher than for the same period the previous year.

“The increase in GAZPROM Germania group’s gas sales by more than a third in the first three quarters of 2009 shows the dynamic development of our group and the expansion of our trading, particularly in Italy, the Czech Republic, and in the LNG sector. These results make us convinced that we will reach the goals we set for the current business year,” says Hans-Joachim Gornig, Managing Director of GAZPROM Germania GmbH.
